These are the most impressive transfers of the summer window

The 2022 summer transfer window was rather eventful and several teams across Europe made sure to splash the cash in a bid to strengthen their sides ahead of the new season.

Premier League sides were the biggest spenders and their net spend was more than that of other top four leagues in Europe combined. For emphasis, the Premier League had a net spend of €1.3 billion while the La Liga which came next, was only at €52.5 million. The Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 all recorded profit from transfers as one would expect.

However, spending the most doesn’t guarantee the best signings and the same applies if you want to know how to be successful in betting.

Without much ado, we take a look at the 2022 summer transfer window and rank the five most impressive signigns that have hit stellar starts with their new clubs already.

Joao Palhinha

From: Sporting CP
To: Fulham
Transfer Price: €20 million

Aleksandr Mitrovic might be taking all the plaudits at Fulham but there are several underplayed reasons behind the Cottager’s promising start after their return to the Premier League. The defensive duo of Kenny Tete and Antonee Robinson have been at the top of their game but a key reason they have impressed is down to the brilliance of Joao Palhinha in the middle of the park.

The Portuguese is already a fan-favourite and has so far shown a tireless workrate and desire to make something happen. He’s also never afraid to throw his body on the line and has averaged a praise- worthy 5.2 tackles per 90 minutes while also winning 63 percent of all ground duels.

As long as he is fit, he can already count himself as a regular under Marco Silva.

From: Torino
To: Juventus
Transfer Price: €41 million

Juventus made a huge profit from selling defender Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich over the summer and were quick to replace him with a Brazilian centre-back for just over half that amount.

While playing for Torino last season, Bremer was rated among the top five centre-backs in the Serie A and was also named in the WhoScored Team of the Season for the 2021/22 campaign.

Partnering Daniele Rugani at the heart of the Juventus defence, Bremer has helped the Bianconeri tighten their backline and it is no surprise they have conceded only two goals after five Serie A games in the 2022/23 campaign.

He already looks better than De Ligt and cost way less than the Dutchman, making it a shrewd signing by the Italian giants.

Gabriel Jesus

From: Manchester City
To: Arsenal
Transfer Price: €52.2 million

Talking about a player who fits the style and philosophy of the club he joined, it is well summarized by Gabriel Jesus’ move to Arsenal. The Brazilian already made a good account of himself in pre-season with seven goals and has enjoyed a fine start to the 2022/23 campaign with Arsenal.

He might have scored only three goals so far but his introduction in the Gunners’ attack has no doubt offered the club a new dimension. Coincidentally, Arsenal find themselves at the top of the table and Jesus has played a huge part in his side’s promising start.

His influence has not only spread on the pitch but off it as well. The 25-year-old has already been named as one of the club’s vice captains and has received tons of praises from his new Arsenal teammates.

Robert Lewandowski

From: Bayern Munich
To: Barcelona
Transfer Price: €45 million

Erling Haaland has stolen the headlines after tearing up the Premier League but Robert Lewandowski is quietly doing the same in La Liga.

After a prolonged transfer saga that ultimately saw the forward force his way out of Bayern Munich, he is already adapting to life in his new surroundings.

Many might question the 45m fee for a 33-year-old but given what he still has to offer, it is proving to be a bargain buy.

With five goals from four La Liga games so far, Lewandowski is the current joint-top scorer alongside Iago Aspas as at the time of writing. In no time at all, he already has a pair of beautiful goals to choose from, which include a stunning back-heel against real Valladolid in August and a well-placed finish against Sevilla in a 3-0 victory for Barcelona.

Erling Haaland

From: Borussia Dortmund
To: Manchester City
Transfer Price: €60 million

Easily the top choice and it would have been wrong if there was any other name than this. The first thing that makes Haaland’s signing so perfect is the fact that City did not have to pay over the top, especially at a time when transfer fees are unnecessarily inflated. For a modern striker with potential to improve and dominate world football, it is a major steal and might go down as one of the best bargain signings of all time.

Unlike the others on this list, Haaland has already hit double digits for Manchester City, having scored 10 goals from only six games. He is the record-joint player to achieve such a feat in the Premier League but is the first to score two consecutive hat-tricks in less than 10 games.

It is even more impressive to think that his 10 goals have come just after 100 touches of the ball, meaning his efficiency has been second to nothing.

He is exceeding his xG by far at the moment and provided he can stay fit, we are looking at the possibility of several goal-scoring records being shattered by the ambitious Norwegian.
