Sunderland midfielder Adam Johnson, 26, is a shock target for French side AS Monaco

Hull City are set to make a £5m bid for Sunderland winger Adam Johnson, 26, who arrived at the Stadium of Light for £10m from Manchester City in 2012.

Liverpool have emerged as favourites to sign Johnson before the transfer window closes at the end of August.

The Black Cats hope to sign Adam Johnson, 25-year-old Wolves striker Steven Fletcher and Blackburn defender Martin Olsson, 24, in a £25m triple deal.
