Manchester United are weighing up a shock raid on bitter rivals Liverpool for Alexis Mac Allister, with the club in the process of drawing up a list of potential midfield targets. United have expressed interest in Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson.

Manchester United are considering a move to sign Argentina midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, 27, from Liverpool with the World Cup winner potentially set to leave Anfield this summer.

Alexis Mac Allister will sign for Liverpool from Brighton, subject to a medical, with the Argentina midfielder, 24, understood to have agreed a five-year contract.
